Home Decorations Using Unique Paint Design

When the expanse of walls in your home are all one color, and it's starting to look old and boring, there are a number of unique painting methods to accent one or more walls.

The painting technique featured here is a pearlized finish, using a rich color to accent your furnishings or other decor. The specialized paint and supplies can be found at any major home improvement store - and there are many beautiful colors to choose from.

Using a pearlized finish basically requires a three step process. As with all painting, you will of course want to tape around the areas you wish to paint. The first step is to simply apply the base coat in the same manner you would use any type of paint, using a roller and brush. That coat needs to dry for twenty four hours. The second step is the fun part. This paint is the same color as the base coat, however it contains elements to provide the pearlized finish. This phase simply requires using a wide paint brush, and working on only a 4' x 4' area at a time, applying the pearlized paint in "X" formations. While the paint is still wet, then you will use a plastic trowel to spread the paint in the area. This is where creativity come in, as you will use the trowel as your design tool, primarily creating somewhat of a swirl affect, as large or small as you would like. After this process is completed, this should also dry for about twenty four hours. The final step is very quick and simple, involving applying a clear, soft gloss to the surface.

The result are beautiful and rich looking accent walls that are unique and appear to be professionally done - except you have done it yourself, and can take pride in the unique and complimentry decorating you have done in your home!
